My Home-mixed Laundry Stain Pre-Treater

Another household product that I can't live without is my favorite home-mixed laundry stain pre-treater recipe. I want to share it with you. I started using this home-mixed stain pre-treater after I had a child. It worked wonders with the mustard-yellow new born poop. No scrubbing involved. Just spray the pre-treater, toss the article to the side, then launder it when you have a full load.

As my child has grown, her messes have changed, and this pre-treater still works to the max. This mix has taken tomato stains out. It has removed grape juice stains. It has eliminated grass and mud stains. I'm telling you, it works wonderfully.

The mix

Mix 1/2 cup (equal ratio) of:

Water
Ammonia
White Vinegar
Liquid Wisk

Mix all ingredients into a spray bottle. If you have a large spray bottle, double the recipe.

While I am on the topic of laundry, I'll share a tip for drying your sweaters. You probably have realized that when you hang a sweater on a hanger to dry, you will end up with it stretching and leaving hanger marks near the shoulder of the sweater. To eliminate the dimpled look, string an old pair of pantyhose through the arms, then pin the pantyhose (not the sweater) to a clothesline.

And, if you have a colored item that you can't expose to direct sunlight, you should dry the item flat on a towel. Just roll the item in a towel to remove the excess moister, then pat it into shape (usually folding down the arms of the sweater to the body of the sweater) and let it dry.
