Love Day

Today has been a wonderful love day. We started the day off with a French Toast breakfast before Austin left for work. After breakfast we opened our gifts to one another. I gave Austin a new wallet, vest and a love note. He gave me a gift certificate to a local boutique and a love note. Austin bought Jader an inflatable soccer ball for her Valentine gift.

We met for lunch at my favorite cafe in Helper, Utah. We ate at the Balance Rock Eatery and Pub. Lunch was delicious, as always.

Tonight, for dinner, I am making his favorite meal. Lasagna dinner with salad and garlic bread. For dessert, we will enjoy the chocolate cake with chocolate frosting that he bought from our ward YW to support them in their camp fund raiser.

I tried to call in and participate with Dr. Laura's first annual Lovey Dovey Valentine's Day Special. However, the phone was busy for the entire three hours she was on the show. Yes, I tried for the full three hours. I wanted to share a Valentine story from my past. Since I couldn't share it on the air, I will post it here on my blog.

Six years ago, when I was newly wed, my dad sent me a Valentine's care package. It consisted of a balloon, candy, a cookie and a personalized note. In his note he told me how proud he was of me that I married a good man, and that I was obtaining a college education.

When I was going through my papers last week I came upon that personalized note from my dad. It made me happy to realize that my dad was proud of me and that he loved me in his own special way. I appreciate the small things that I have kept to help remind me of my dad's influence in my life. He was one of the driving factors for me to complete my education. I wanted to make him proud.

I hope you all had a happy love day, and even though you've probably heard it already today, I want to send my love to my friends and family. Love you all!

I am glad to hear you had a nice Valentine's Day. We went to dinner at Groggs, and it was really good! Chad gave me roses, a card; and this really fattening, yummy, chocolate, caramel apple. It was supposed to serve 8-10...we finished it ourselves! haha I made Chad a book of love coupons. It was a great day.
