A Dirty Incident

I experienced a 'Mommy First' yesterday. I have read the stories of mothers that have experienced this situation, but I honestly and fervently wished it would never happen to me and my child. It is nothing extremely traumatic, thankfully. Well, in some ways, it is traumatic, but not life threatening in any sense.

I ask my daughter for forgiveness for sharing TMI (too much information). Here goes:

I put Jader in her crib for her nap, and she acted as she normally would, talking to herself and soothing herself to sleep. I was also inclined for a nap on this day, and I took to my nap on the couch in the living room. Jader fell asleep quickly (or so I think), but soon after, she awoke and yelled a little bit for someone to come to her room. I didn't go to her room right away, thinking she would soothe herself back to sleep. She did, and I fell back to sleep as well.

A little later, she awoke again, and this time she was mad. She really needed me, and so I went into her room to find out what was wrong. What I found in her crib was very disturbing. She was sitting on her crib mattress (The sheet had been removed earlier because her diaper leaked. I placed a blanket over the mattress for her nap because the soiled sheet hadn't been cleaned, and the other sheet was temporarily misplaced.) with her pants and diaper removed. Her naked bum was on the mattress (she moved the blanket to the side), and she was talking about 'pooh pooh'.

There in her crib, was a diaper full of poop.

At some point during her nap time she had gone poop, taken off her pants and her diaper, then (at least I think so) went back to sleep. She woke up a second time, saw the diaper and freaked out. She didn't want to be in her crib with her poopie diaper.

I took her out of the crib and assessed the damage. Thankfully the poop was contained in the diaper. There was a little pooh on the mattress from her bum where she was sitting, but for the most part, it wasn't a big mess. Not at all like the stories I have read about other children smearing pooh on the walls, crib bars, and all over themselves.

I took Jader into the bathroom to rinse her off. She was pretty upset about the impromptu bath because she was still very tired and wanted to sleep. I explained that I need to clean her body, then she could go back to sleep. After I cleaned her up, I dried her off, put a diaper on her, and brought her into my bed with me. We cuddled for a while, then she fell asleep.

Once she was asleep, I took the time to clean up her crib. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad. Even so, this is one 'First', that I never want to experience again.

I have to say the wall thing has happened to me!! I had a child that would go pooh and then take her diaper off, it would fall on the floor and she would try to clean it up herself. Not a lovely thing to deal with, and one time she literally smeared it all over the kitchen wall and quite a big area of the floor. Gross and really disturbing at the time, but now seems like no big deal. Must be all the other little things I have to deal with! Good luck on having it never happen again. If you plan on having more children, you're chances just get bigger!
