Family Vacation

We had a lovely family vacation in Las Vegas this past week. Austin had to travel to Vegas for work, and Jader and I decided to tag along. We left Wednesday afternoon, traveled six hours to Vegas, and enjoyed two nights in the Sin City.

On Thursday, Jader and I met up with an old high school friend of mine that I hadn't seen in at least ten years. We spent the morning at a local park and the kids had a great time playing on the playground sets. Jader found some "wocks" that she had to climb over, and over, and over, again. She also loved the slides and went down them over, and over, and over, again. Within an hour, her cheeks were so flushed from playing so hard. At first I thought she might be sunburned because it was quite warm, but I had applied sunscreen two separate times to protect her skin. Later, after she cooled down indoors, I realized she was red just from playing. She had a great time.

Later in the evening, Jader, Austin and I enjoyed dinner at the famous In-N-Out Burger. Wow! That food was goooooood! Then we walked on The Strip, did some window browsing, enjoyed some yummy custard (thanks for the tip, Ragan!), and got to bed really late that night. On Friday, we did some shopping at R.E.I. and Trader Joe's. We ate lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. I really enjoyed what I ordered, and the cheesecake for dessert was amazing, but I wasn't able to enjoy the entire experience because Jader was really hyper and she was misbehaving a lot. She wouldn't sit at the table to eat with us. Instead, she wanted to run around and bug all of the other customers. She liked shaking the salt and pepper shakers all over the table, the napkins, and the chairs. She needed to go down for her nap, and was acting the way she was because she was tired. Being on Vegas time threw her entire schedule off.

This is us outside the Forum Shops at Caeser's Palace.

So, after lunch on Friday, we had to leave the Sin City and travel to Cedar City, Utah. The reason? I had to meet up with my softball team because they were playing a State Playoff game to go to the 3A State Tournament.

Without getting into too much detail, we lost our first game, and then we lost our second game, and BAM! just like that, we are out of the tournament. My first season as a softball coach is over. I am happy and sad about it at the same time.

We got home from our trip late Saturday night. We had a wonderful time! I am looking forward to our anniversary trip at the end of the month. We're thinking of going to Grand Junction, CO, to enjoy the Junior College Baseball World Series.

I am looking forward to a lot of playing this summer!

How fun! It's fun to get a change of scenery, but it's always nice to get back home. The In 'N Out has oppened in St. George, but I prefer Cheesecake factory. YUMMMM! Cute family pic.
