In Review: Month Ten

Grant turned 10 months old on Wednesday. Austin turned 30 on Tuesday of this week, and Kalli celebrated her half birthday on Tuesday, too. So, we have had some milestones in this house this week.

I'm feeling pretty guilty that I skipped months eight and nine to review. Sorry, Grant. Since my last review, Grant has done a lot of new things. During our vacation, he started saying 'Ma ma'. I'm happy to report that he still calls out to me. I love it.

I feel like I am enjoying his babyhood a lot more than I did Kalli's. Maybe it is because I am a lot more relaxed about everything. I used to worry about what food I fed Kalli, when she nursed, slept and pooped, what foods to give her and when, etc. With Grant, I am much more laid back, and have even given him a bottle here and there when I was too busy to stop doing a task. I would have never done that with Kalli.

Since I am more relaxed, nothing in my house is 'baby-proofed'. Well, to the extent of latches and locks. Of course, I have taken the necessary precautions to keep dangerous items out of his reach, e.g., the cleaning chemicals are high in the hall closet. Anything under the bathroom sinks is safe, i.e., towels, garbage can (kind of scary), and empty toiletry bag.

Because there are no locks or latches, I often find Grant digging into drawers and getting into trouble. He loves to reach into the third high drawer now. Even though he can't see the contents of said drawer, he will stand on his tiptoes and reach until he finds something to pull out. I often find utensils scattered on the kitchen floor courtesy of Grant.

He has also started climbing things. He will open the dishwasher (if it is partially propped open to dry dishes) and climb into it. He will then reach for the silverware drawer, open it, and start emptying the contents within. I have also found him climbing on his toy piano. I haven't taken a picture yet, but I have a picture of his sister doing the same thing two and a half years ago.

In fact, I also have a picture of her climbing in the dishwasher, too, and about the same age. Crazy kids!

(Kalli, age 10 months)

I find Grant standing on the stool in the bathroom, trying flush the toilet, and taking all the toilet paper off the roll. Today, I found him sitting on top of the piano, playing in the plant and spreading dirt all over the top of the piano. I was surprised at this feat, because he climbed up the LoveSac ( a big one), and climbed onto the piano. I had no idea he would even think to do that. I'll be fixing that dilemma soon.

He got his two bottom teeth in, and seems bent on getting the top four all at once. That's what the doctor says, anyway, so we'll see.

He is still a mild-mannered child and is very pleasant to be around. He makes me laugh and I love it when he plays with his sister. Or, I should say, when his sister plays with him.

I'm so happy he is a part of our family, and I look forward to many more months together with him in it.

He is adorable! I'm hoping that it works the same for me and that I'll be more relaxed the second time through.
