A Big, Thank You!

I made this card as a thank you for the many nurses that helped my children in the hospital this past week.

Grant and Kalli were kept in 'RSV land'-a small area in the hallway between the Labor and Delivery nurses station and the Med/Surg nurses station. They kept the area cordoned off by shutting the doors. There were three rooms, and a nurses room. And for the seven days, each room was occupied. When Kalli was in, the other rooms were occupied by babies less than a month old. One was seventeen days old. When Grant was in, the other room was occupied by a boy the same age.

I was really nervous about the treatment my children would get at the hospital, mainly because I've heard some not so good stories. But, truth be told, I was quite impressed with the care they received and the concern the nurses had for my children.

The nurses that cared for them were all OB and Nursery nurses, and since there weren't a lot of babies being born during our stay, they were assigned to 'RSV land'. Between Kalli and Grant, there were 12 different nurses, and they all did a fantastic job.

I was starting to feel sorry for ourselves and the lot we had been cast, but since we've been home, I've heard of many other families (in my ward alone) that have (or have had) sick children. I guess it's just going around. I'm paranoid to take my children out in public, and don't plan on doing it for another week, or longer.

Grant is still on oxygen during nap times and bed time, and he has to have Albuterol treatment through a nebulizer, and we have to beat on him with a cupped hand on his back after his treatments. He loves it...let me tell you!

I just want to give a big thanks to Gaylene, Julia, Amber, Shawna, Lana, Belle, Charlotte, Carla, Jodi, Janet, and Mary for all your hard work and compassion.

And, even though the staff was fantastic, the hospital food really was 'not so good'.

I am glad your kids are finally home. I hope they get better soon. I hate having sick kids it is so exhausting.

My grandma had to do those inhaler/back pounding treatments the last couple years of her life, and my dad used to tease my grandpa that he was the only man he knew who had a doctor's permission to beat his wife. I'm so glad they are doing better and that your hospital stay was tolerable, even if the food wasn't. :)

I'd say you guys have had your turn for being sick for the year! Love the card, I wish I had your talent, I'm trying to do baby shower cards for my sister.

Wow, I need to remember to check in here more often. Glad to hear your kids are both out of the hospital and doing better now. How scary! Camden has had a fever for the past 5 days and sick kids are NOT FUN!

I LOVE the card!
