Yesterday, Kalli had her first t-ball game of the season (well, of her life, actually!). And, girl, did she make me proud. I know, you can't read sarcasm, but it's there.
Let me set the stage for you.
We have been working with Kalli on how to use her glove, but we never went over how to hit the ball off the tee, or how to run the bases. I figured she'd learn by trial and error how to hit the ball off the tee, but I did take some time to explain the direction she should run after she hit the ball. We even did a trial run before any of the other children arrived. We were set.
My sweet little girl was second in line to hit and her team was first at bat. She took her first swing. WIFF! Second swing: WIFF! I heard some parents yelling 'watch the ball', 'watch the ball' (he he) and then she takes her third swing, and makes a connection. It flies about four feet in the sky and lands six feet from where she is standing. Everyone starts yelling 'RUN'. And run she does.
Straight down the third base line.
Really? HuH?*!? In one ear and out the other, I tell you.
But, oh, it was so funny and so cute. I thought I would die laughing.
She got better and better with each inning and I just loved the entertainment of it all. And to be honest, she really did make me proud and it is fun to see the beginning of a great athlete.

That's adorable! And when she's a star batter you can tell her all about her first time up at bat. Cute!
