Did You Know?

One thing I know about permanent marker is that you can remove it off of most surfaces using toothpaste. Toothpaste! I have used toothpaste to remove permanent marker strokes off of the refrigerator we had in our garage when we moved in. I have also used it to remove my daughters lovely drawing on my dad's nightstand while we were at their home over the holidays. The marks came off easily and everything looked as good as new.

What I didn't know, however, is that if you have permanent marker strokes on a dry erase board, you can use a dry erase marker to help remove the permanent marker lines. Just draw with the dry erase marker directly over the marks made with the permanent marker.

If you are wondering how I came across this tidbit of information, it is because a lovely 2.5 year old used permanent marker on a dry erase board this evening while we were having a party. Her mom handed her a marker and told her she could draw with it. She didn't look at the marker before she let her daughter use it, and before we knew it, there was a lovely scene of dots and lines on the board that would not erase.

A 14 year old girl let us in on the secret of using a dry erase marker over the lines, then erasing them for a clean and pristine board. Viola!

Did you know that?

Also, did you know that 'Erudition', the label for this post, means 'knowledge acquired by study, research, etc.; learning; scholarship'. This category will be dedicated to my dad. He was the most knowledgeable person I have ever known and knew everything about everything.

What wonderful little tidbits you share with everyone! Thank you. I am also learning new words nearly everytime I read your posts...such a dictionary you are!

I like these posts, they're fun! My sister has a good one for getting stickers off random areas. She says that hairspray takes them right off. I've never had to try it, thank goodness, but I also know that if you get a sticker hot (a hair dryer works great) and scrape it with a razor it comes off very easily, but it also takes off paint, so be careful of that. I think my dad taught me that one.
That's about the extent of my knowledge on things like this and now I have two extras thanks to you!
