Weekend Plans

We're packing and getting ready to travel to St. George, Utah, for the weekend. The high school softball team has a game on Thursday against Pineview High School, then the St. George 18th Annual March Warm-up Tournament this weekend. I'm riding separately (not with the bus full of girls) and taking my mountain bike. We hope to get some good riding in this weekend. I'm excited and hope the weather is nice.

So far, coaching has been a lot of fun. I really enjoy working with the girls and being able to coach and guide them with this sport. I also love that I can be so closely involved with the sport, but not have the anxiety of performing. I remember how wound up and anxious I would feel before playing a game (suffice it to say, my anxiety messed up my game--sometimes). It is so nice to just be in charge and enjoy the game, while dispersing wisdom at the same time.

I want to be a fun coach for the girls, because my high school softball coach was so ornery. I didn't enjoy playing for her at all. We actually play against my home town in a couple of weeks, and I can't wait to show that I am cheering another team on besides my home team. In fact, I hope we beat them. Watch out, Cougars!

Congrats on your new coaching job! I used to play softball too in high school, and then also in college. Just a Jr. college though. It looks like we have softball in common! Good luck coaching...sounds fun!! And way more relaxing than competing!!
