Birthday Fun

I have been ridiculously inconsistent with my blog posts. I'm sorry about that. I've been having a little touch of laziness and indifference lately. Not to mention slight paranoia to posting on the internet.

Lazy + Indifference + Paranoia = Irregular posts

It's simple, really. However, my baby girl turned two last Saturday and we had a fun little celebration for her. She had a handful of toddler friends over, and together they went fishing (for Smarties and stickers using a dowel with a clothespin attached), ate cake and ice cream, and opened presents. It was just the right amount of children and the length of the party was perfect.

Here are some pictures:

Note: I did a black and white photo with a color focus, so if it looks like my daughter's skin has unusual pallor, that is why. I didn't realize that effect until it was too late.

I don't know where I heard this next bit of advice, but I am definitely a believer. I read a suggestion that, as parents, we only hold birthday parties for our children -where they invite a lot of friends, and it is the whole shabang- on the odd years of their birthdays. On the even years, make it simply a family affair. So, when Jader turns three, we'll have another friend birthday, but beginning with the age of four, and every other even year passed that while she lives under our roof, we will have a family get together. This makes sense to me. Especially since a lot of ordinances in the church occur on the even year of one's birth, i.e., baptism, receiving the Priesthood, etc.. So, we'll be applying this suggestion into our family's birthday plans.

Speaking of plans, we are heading to Grand Junction, CO, over the Memorial Day weekend. As a family, we are going to camp one night, and stay in a hotel a couple of nights. We plan on going to a lot of JUCO (Junior College) baseball games. They are having the World Series Championship games this weekend. I'm super excited!

Yep, I made the cake. But, I can't take credit for the creativity because I found the cake online a long time ago.
