The past couple of days I have been really thankful for the simple things in life. I like it when life feels uncomplicated and uncluttered.
A few of my favorite things have been:
1. While washing dishes, I get a strong whiff of the lilacs growing in my backyard. I really love that fresh smell, and I am grateful they bloomed this year, because last year the frost got 'em.
2. Riding my bike, pulling Jader in her trailer, and enjoying the non-busy roads of this area. I love riding, feeling the breeze, and smelling all the different smells as we pass houses and businesses. Today I smelled mostly pleasant things, like flowers, laundry, and somethings really sweet near a realtor's office (no idea what that was). I did, unfortunately, also smell something that I would think smelled like rotted flesh, if I knew what rotted flesh smelled like. I wasn't about to go looking in the weeds along the road, though, for the source of the smell. Maybe it was just because I was downwind from some farm animals.
3. My irises are blooming. I have gorgeous yellow, purple, and dark purple flowers blooming in my front lawn.
4. We've also been enjoying warmer weather, and the nonstop, persistent wind hasn't been to visit for a week now. Phew!
5. City Softball League starts tonight! Yay! I've been waiting for a while to have something to look forward to during the weeknights, especially since I finished my coaching job for the season.

I so agree. I love days like that...those moments of overwhelming gratitude and the ability to notice the small details of life make up for the moments when we forget.
It's the little things that make life worthwhile! I have been really enjoying the warm weather! And the last few days we have had non-stop irrigation water, and I've had my window open the last 3 nights and can hear it rolling down my ditches! It is a fun sound and refreshing!
Good Luck in your Softball league!!
