Modge-Podge, Ho-Hum

Okay, so I said I was done canning for the year, but I lied. Since that post I have canned another 14+ quarts of tomatoes, and 21 quarts of applesauce. I still have a cooler full of pears to process, and another day of canning applesauce ahead of me.

I'm not complaining too loudly about not being finished because it means that I have been blessed with the Lord's bounty. I still believe that my tomato plants were like the loaves and fishes story found in the Bible. Who can complain about that?

However, truth be told, I am complaining about the work. It is taxing for my 7 month pregnant body to be doing all this canning. It's hard on my lower back and my sciatic nerve. Especially after today, because I started canning around 9:30 am, and didn't finish until nearly 5 pm. Then, I had to turn around and stand some more from 6 pm to 9 pm while I refereed coed volleyball for the recreation leagues in town.

I can't wait to go to sleep tonight so I can be ready for my day tomorrow. I agreed to be a substitute at a local daycare and tomorrow is my first day subbing. I can take Jader with me with no cost, the meals are provided, I get to earn a little income, and it will be like an extended play date for my daughter.

The only thing I am a little leary about (well two things) is that I don't want Jader to be exposed to more germs, and I have to work in the baby area of the daycare instead of with the toddlers. I would rather be with the toddlers to keep an eye out on my own, and to be able to interact with the older children. But, I will keep an open mind until I have had my first experience as a substitute.

Oh...on a tangent and back to sleeping...will you, my readers, share with me what kind of bed you sleep on and if you totally love it, or totally hate it. We are in the process of shopping for a new king-sized bed and I want to hear about your likes/dislikes.

I wish I was there, I would have come over to help you!!! I hope things are going well, what is your due date again?
You got me on beds.... We have never really had our own bed, just hand me downs, and the one we have is o.k. but not great! I guess it depends on if you like to sleep on soft or hard beds, but there is an organic bed place that I am going to check out a little more when I decide to buy our family new beds!!! If you want the site I will send it to you by email.

Hello Julie, Way to go, canning more when your way pregnant. We have a foam bed that is way heavy and we have been told don't need to flip. But we muscle it over every few months. I love the bed especially after it has been flipped. David doesn't like it even though he picked it out. He likes when he visits his parents and get to sleep on the adjustable air bed. I think the air bed would be a good idea for us because I like soft and fluffy and he likes hard.
Take Care, Emily

We invested in a good futon a few years back. Not one of your nasty old cotton ones, but an organic latex filled, wool topped fluffy version. I love it - firm, but the wool pillow top is cool in summer and cozy in winter. It doesn't jiggle when one person gets in or out.

We used soaring heart futons (but I'm sure there are other companies!).
