New Layout

I changed my layout (Thanks, Marne, for noticing!). That's kind of a big deal for me, because I like to keep things very simple.

I like most of the cutesy scrapbook looking pages, but sometimes they get too distracting, and take too long to load because images are too large, etc.. We have very high speed DSL (since my husband is a computer guy) and there are some pages that just take too long to load, even with our rocking speed. So, I can't imagine how some people might feel if they are still on dial-up speed. That is one reason why I like to keep it simple. It really is about the content, you know. I don't want someone to try to come to my page and then give up because it takes too long for it to load.

Anyway, a small design bug bit me yesterday while Jader was napping, and I decided to try my hand at creating a new blog header. I used The Gimp to design it, and although it is super simple and there isn't much to it, I have proven to myself that I can make a header, upload it onto my blog, and even change some of the code to get rid of the border that was in the existing code.

I also used the Gimp to pick a matching color for my text links and added a color. It is so cool that every color on the computer has its own number and you just have to add the number to get the color you want.

I changed the html code so I now have a three column layout, instead of the basic two column. I have some fun ideas in store for the third column, but I am still trying to figure them out.

I thought it would be fun to have a link to show my Supper Swap Menu. We have meals planned through April. Once I get a link up (or however it ends up looking), if someone is struggling with an idea for a meal, they could look at what our menu is, and get an idea. I want to include recipes someday, too. But, that is a work-in-progress.

So, anyway, I have a new layout, and now that I am intersted in how it all works, you can expect some changes periodically.

I love the new look! I've always loved learning and using HTML to personalize things a bit more.
Also, it's good to know Grant is still head down. I'm anxious for his arrival!
