Wildlife (the real stuff, not my wild life)

I have been encountering a lot of wildlife lately. I already told you about the bears I saw. (He he.) Let me tell you what else I've seen.

First, I saw these four Killdeer eggs near a tree in Midway, Utah.

I saw the mommy bird shortly after.

Last week, I saw this snake in my grass (I nearly stepped on it when I was trying to hang clothes to dry on the line outside). I barely missed taking a picture of the snake poking his head out of the rocks. Darn it!

A couple of days later, I saw another family of Killdeer birds. This time the eggs were hatched and three little birdies were hanging out with their mom and dad.

While camping over the weekend, we saw a ton of butterflies on a remote road we were traveling.

If you are local, you need to take a drive on the Nuck Woodward Canyon Road. You will not be disappointed.

Especially if you go soon, because the wild flowers were spectacular. Here is a picture of the view at the top. This picture is looking down on my hometown.

We also saw a cute little deer.

I keep thinking I am going to see a bear in my lifetime. I mean a bear up-close and personal. Thankfully it wasn't on this trip. I'm not really looking forward to it.

ETA (edited to add): I forgot to mention that I also stepped on a bee in my backyard. If any of you have ever done this, you know how painful it is. My sting swelled up to the size of a silver dollar, and itched like crazy on the second and third day. It is still swollen (almost a week later), and itches if I happen to accidentally touch it. Ouch!

Cool sightings Julie...and really what is it with these fearless girls? I keep wondering when my kids are going to stop acting like they are bullet proof!

Hey Julie! Yep, we did move back home to Idaho. I haven't blogged since we've been back. It's fabulous to be home, but I totally miss playgroup! Thanks for being so friendly to us while we were there. I'll miss seeing you at Walmart EVERY time I go there :) I love the photo of Jade rock climbing! Hope you guys are doing well and having a fun summer!

I love these pictures (esp the butterflies). I can tell you firsthand - seeing a bear up close and personal is a very frightening experience! So far I've been lucky enough to have it happen twice and once was a baby who looked all alone - I knew the mother had to be close by somewhere but couldn't see her. Yikes!

I love reading your blog and seeing your pictures. The ones of your little ones are my favourites by far. I don't comment very often, so I apologize for that - but I read, and I tell Scott about the fun things you guys do as well.

Hope to see you guys soon!
