Nine years ago, on May 25, 2001, I married my high school sweetheart, and love of my life. This is our engagement picture.
But, let's back up a little bit. This is a picture of us on our first date together.
Stop laughing. Seriously. My husband would kill me if he knew I posted this. Ikes, though, look at all the makeup. That is a prime example of why I don't wear any now. Oh, and believe it or not, but I also had fake nails during this high maintenance phase of my life. Crazy!
But, back to the past. This is a picture Austin's mom took of us on our first date. We were going to a dance together, and it was a girl's choice dance. I took him to buy that silly Disney tie a week earlier for his birthday. What were we thinking??? I remember his mom telling me she was grateful I wore a modest dress for the evening. Ha ha ha! What a 'mom' statement.
Next up, a picture from our wedding almost four years later. I waited for him to graduate high school (he is six months younger than me, and was a grade behind me in school), and serve a mission. I felt like those four years were never going to end because I knew he was the man I would marry.
Finally the time came, and we had a beautiful wedding, and a stupid church reception. Oh!! I could kick myself for having our reception in the gym, at the church, at the end of May, with perfect weather outside! Stupid!
A picture with us and my good-looking parents.
We spent the first five years of our marriage working and going to school. I would never trade those years for anything. We had a lot of fun adventures together.
Then our sweet baby girl came in to our family in May 2006.
Austin was such a proud daddy. He even let me convince him to wear the baby carrier. But, I think this was the only time he wore it. I had to get a picture!
Less than three years after Kalli was born, in January 2009, we became proud parents of a baby boy!
And, Austin has shown me over and over what a great father he is! I have never been disappointed in his parenting abilities. He is the one who gives me the footing I need to keep going. He is my rock. And, I know with our pending addition to our family (due early November!), he will continue to amaze me with his patience, love, and kindness to our children.
I am still attracted to this man. Even more so now than I was nine (even 13) years ago!! I love being married to him, and for sharing memories with him. I look forward to many more years together.
Love you, Austin!!!!

I loved this post. Both Chad and I laughed at the second picture of you two haha, Austin looks like he's 14. Happy anniversary guys!
What a cute post! I hope you guys had a happy Anniversary! You two are good people and fantastic parents. I really enjoyed seeing those older pictures of you guys as well. :)
Congrats on your pregnancy. I hope everything goes well for you!
On a side note, the make up part made me think: The way I do my makeup must slightly disgust you. I apologize if it does. I've always just loved playing around with it. :)
That's fun Congratulations!!! Is that the girls choice dance we went to together???? and I am not happy that I found out you were expecting from your blog. But that's probably how you've found out on the last one of mine, so I'll let it pass this time!!! :) :) I'm so excited for you!!!
Great Post, Julie! Sounds like you and Austin are doing well. Congrats on your expected baby! So very exciting. Bryan and I welcomed our little Lillian to the world just over 5 weeks ago. We were surprised by an early arrival. She was born just over 6 weeks early, which led to spending the first 3.5 weeks of her life in the NICU at DRMC. We have been home for 2 weeks now, and are doing great. I would love to catch up sometime. I have misplaced your e-mail address. Shoot me a message sometime soon. LadyBird05@gmail.com
Congrats again on the great news and happy anniversary!
so cute!! i'm happy you found the love of your life so early, saved all the disapointment and frustration of dating!!! congrats on the new baby...and all the new adventures to come with 3 kids.
I looove this post, Julie! What a wonderful story. Congratulations on the new little Sherman coming soon. Yay for babies!! Although, it seems like Grant was born just yesterday. How could you be expecting again? I think motherhood must be messing with my perception of time! But, yeah...happy anniversary to you two!!
Cute post! I love the picture of the two of you on your first date together. Adorable!
I love all the pictures! How fun and happy anniversary! Congrats on #3!
Also, I wanted to thank you for your comment on my sister's blog. I saw it there today and felt so grateful for the love and support in her behalf, even from a stranger (you're not a stranger to me...but to her :) You are great. Thank you.
