I have tried (and failed) three separate times to make my own yogurt. I'm not sure why I can't get the consistency right, but at this time, I am blaming it on my crockpots. In the near future, I plan on making the recipe on the stove in a pot, and maybe then I'll have better luck. But, in the meantime, I just wanted to share with you my new favorite yogurt.
Greek Gods Yogurt
This stuff is heavenly and when I found it at my local Smith's grocery store, I felt like I hit the jackpot.
We use plain yogurt a lot in recipes (instead of sour cream), and their plain yogurt has the best flavor I have ever tasted in a plain yogurt. It actually has a flavor, instead of just tasting, well, um...plain. I use it in smoothies, on egg burritos, in cucumber salad, in casseroles (enchiladas, etc..), baked chicken, and it holds up well. It doesn't separate like some other yogurts in the past have done.
The other flavor I have tried, and love!, is the Honey flavor. Wow! This stuff is yummy. I haven't had Honey yogurt in the past, but I think it has replaced Vanilla as my new favorite flavor. This yogurt is thick and creamy, and delicious. My favorite way of eating it has been for breakfast with blueberries and sliced almonds. Seriously, so good. It is also yummy as a substitute for cream on any desserts.
If you are still searching for the perfect yogurt with limited and natural ingredients, as well as live and active cultures, give this brand a try. I doubt you will be dissapointed.
