I think I made my OB doctor mad this morning. Our conversation went like this:
Dr.: When are you going to let me check you?
Me: Never.
Dr: When are you going to have this baby?
Me: Soon.
Dr: How do you know if you won't let me check you.
Me: (thinking in my mind: You just want to check me so you can "accidentally" sweep my membranes and get labor started). How long will you let me go before doing something to speed up the process?
Dr: We'll have to start running tests next week. What will you let me do next week?
Me: Consider stripping my membranes.
Dr.: Is that all? (while shaking his head back and forth). I would have assumed you'd want this baby sooner. (That's what he gets for assuming I am like the majority of California patients he has cared for in the past. Remember when he wanted to ship me to a specialist because a technician thought I had low fluid? But it ended up being fine.)
Me: (In my mind: Yah, like last week when you wanted to induce me. No thanks.)
Dr.: Is the baby head down?
Me: I hope so, but that is something I'll let you check, because I am nervous about having a Breech baby again.
Dr: Let's go in the other room.
We walk to the ultrasound room where Dr. proceeds to check baby's position, fluid, and heart rate. Everything looks great. Baby is head down, not posterior (yay!), and there is plenty of fluid and the heart rate is great!
Dr: I want to see you Monday if you haven't had the baby by then. If you go in to labor, go straight to the hospital.
Me: Okay, thanks.
I went to the scheduler's desk and asked for an appointment on Tuesday morning. And, the women at the desk proceeded to tell me that I am a rare patient because I have refused to'speed up the process' and would rather wait and let baby come when baby is ready.
Went home and made some phone calls trying to get a massage scheduled---I'm thinking I might have a chance of a massage therapist inducing labor. I'd take that over taking Pitocin.

He is really persistent! Especially since you haven't even reached your due date. Hopefully your massage works.
Oh and I'm glad to hear the baby is good to go!
I hear I just missed you at the park today. Hope you had a successful nap:)
I love that you stick to your guns and let him know who is in charge (the baby is!). :) Good luck!
