This blog post is number 499! One away from 500! Yay!
I need to think of something fun to do for my 500th post. Any suggestions?
Hey! I just rolled over 500 miles on my cyclometer on Monday, too. I have ridden 500 miles in 5 months. That's an average of 100 miles/month. (In case you couldn't do the math. Ha ha) Not too shabby, especially since I started just three months after having my knee surgery.
My first ride outside was on March 5 and I was only able to ride 9 miles. I went on a road that was pretty hilly, which still surprises me because hills are hard, especially when I couldn't even push the pedal because I was lacking the muscles in my leg. I remember stopping a couple of times to catch my breath and rest my legs.
Fast forward a couple of months and now I am able to blaze up that hill. And by "blaze", I mean that I don't have to stop and I can maintain a consistent climbing speed. Truth be told, a good runner could probably run faster up that hill than I can climb on my bike, but at least I'm still trying.
I still have a lot of conditioning to do to reach my goal of getting my leg back to normal and to get my body back.
I look forward to riding in a Century (100 miles) next season. I could do one right now, physically (meaning I am in shape and could ride that long), but I can't because I'm nursing the baby and I wouldn't want to be away from him for that long. And, I don't feel like it would be fair to have Austin and the children follow me in the car all day. BORING!
Speaking of boring. If you are bored with my recent posts, I apologize. My life pretty much revolves around my family, my bikes, my calling, and my blog design business. Thanks for reading!
