Today I have been very busy canning peaches and tomatoes! I finally see the end of the road with this canning business. This is my third round for canning both peaches and tomatoes, and I am so exhausted. I have been on my feet for nine hours and my feet and back are killing me. The good news is that the time was cut in half because I had some help. Thanks, Carolanne (I'd link her, but she's private.)!
I tried doing the entire process on my own during my second round, and that was very tiring. The time definitely passes more quickly in the midst of good company, and for those that have canned tomatoes, you know there is a lot of waiting when processing tomatoes.
I can't wait until all of the fruit flies in my house have disappeared. They don't have any fruit to feed upon anymore, so it shouldn't be too long until they no longer exist in my house. Nasty little annoying creatures!
Speaking of little creatures (minus the nasty and annoying), my little creature has been quite the handful lately. She has been trying to grow four little two-year molars over the past month. She goes to bed upset, and often times wakes up ornery. On top of her teeth, she is recovering from a minor cold and cough.
We recently purchased a new trike for her and it is her new pride and joy. She wants to ride on it all the time. Usually she is good to wait near the adult that is with her before she takes off down the street on her bike. But, this morning, for some reason, she was too impatient to wait for me. Before I knew it, she was on her bike and 3/4's of the way down the block. Once she saw me trying to catch up with her, she started pedaling faster to get away from me. She was all the way to the corner house before I could stop her.
She just wouldn't listen to me when I was asking her to stop, so here I am, 6 months pregnant, chasing down my two-year-old on her flame throwing tricycle.
I'm starting to wonder two things.
One: why was I blessed with such an active child? And,
Two: am I really ready to have another one?

I'm not sure this is something you are ever ready for whether it's your 1st, 3rd or 8th! Not much you can do about it now! I remember when I had my first three,(mind you Shally was only 2.5 when my
3rd child was born) so I'm pregnant with my third, Shally was just going through the potty training stage, but not just any potty training stage, the one where they should be going to the toilet but don't and then take their diapers off themselves and it happens to drop on the floor and they try cleaning it up themselves or get curious when they realize it is spreadable!! And GIGI was only 14 months old and getting into everything. One day Shalyndria had smeared her diaper contents everywhere, and I was so pregnant and so tired and so mad at the same time, I called Dave and said "I can't do this, I can't have another child" and of course his lovely supporting response was "Well it's too late now!" Which it was and the next day I was fine. My advice is, you are only ready for what you make yourself ready for, just the same as it's only as hard as you make it, or as easy and you want it to be. Good Luck, I know there are days when you really wonder if you're ready..... you are!!! Things get worse and then they get better, it's a viscious cycle!!
Great job on the canning. Sometimes you just have to let things go. My house isn't as clean as it use to be. I didn't any canning done the first year after my third was born. My patience is very thin alot of times. But with prayer and songs I get thru it.
You can do it,
Love, Emily S
I can't believe you had the energy to do a post after our stint in the kitchen. Way to go! And thank you for the crash course in canning. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I think I may actually try it again!
