2011: A Year in Review

I did this year in review in 2008 and 2009, and 2010, so I figured I should keep with tradition. Here is 2011: A Year in Review.

1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before? I put close to 1,000 miles on my bike this year (road bike and mountain bike combined). I rode over 800 miles on my road bike, alone. I am super excited about this accomplishment, since it was the best rehab for my knee following surgery. I hope to put over 1,000 miles on my road bike in the year 2012.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn't ake any resolutions for 2011. Hmmm....that is totally unlike me. But, it is safe to say I was extremely overwhelmed around this time last year. I will be making resolutions for 2011...stay tuned!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?  Quite a handful of friends gave birth this year, including one of my best friends.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Not close to me, but a couple of my close friends lost a parent this year, and it is difficult to see them struggle through the feelings I had when my father died.

5. What countries did you visit? None. (Will I ever get to leave this country?)

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011? Confidence in good health and a purer faith that God is mindful of me and my needs and that He is always there for me.

7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? The month milestone markers of Grayson's first year are the dates that I recall the most. Those dates, and my father's death date.  And, Kalli's first day of Kindergarten.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Riding 1,000 miles on my bikes.

9. What was your biggest failure? Not setting any resolutions to improve upon myself.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nothing as serious as last year with my knee surgery, but I was nursing a blood clot in the new year of 2011, and some weird symptoms that prompted my doctor to encourage me to check out and see if it was a hole in my heart (it ended up being a pinched nerve in my thoracic outlet).

11. What was the best thing you bought? My apothecary of essential oils from doTERRA

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Grant.....he potty trained!!!!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? A couple of situations with some acquaintances.

14. Where did most of your money go? Tithing, Living Expenses (Mortgage, Groceries, Bills, etc..), essential oils.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? doTERRA and their great products (spurred me into starting another business).

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?  Happier.
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner (stronger, at least).
c) richer or poorer? Richer.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Camping/Hiking/Canyoneering/Exploring/BLOGGING

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Complaining and worrying about "friendships" that shouldn't matter to me because they are not healthy relationships.

21. Did you fall in love in 2011? Yep...more in love with my husband, and my dear children.

22. What was your favorite TV program? The Sing-Off

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Not 'hate', but dislike, or distrust.

24. What was the best book you read? Unfortunately, with three little ones, I don't find a lot of time to read. But, I have found a couple of great podcasts to listen to while doing dishes, etc..A couple of my favorites include: Focus on the Family, and the LDS podcast

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Soundtrack music from the show, GLEE. ♥

26. What did you want and get? The ability to run and exercise without pain.

27. What did you want and not get? A Toyota Tacoma...it is too small for my cute,  little big family.

28. What was your favorite film of this year? Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I went for a bike ride with my dear husband, Austin. It was the longest ride I had accomplished to that date following my surgery...20 miles! I turned 32 in the year 2011.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? To not worry about what other people think of me or what they perceive me to be.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011? Boring! I need to add pattern to my wardrobe. I'll be spending time on Pinterest for outfit ideas this year.

32. What kept you sane? Blog Design.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Can't list any one specifically, but I admire all celebrities that keep their integrity intact with their status.

35. Who did you miss? My dad.

36. Who was the best new person you met? Liesel, McKensi and Danielle.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011. Be good to your body, and it will be good to you. Feed it whole, natural foods for the best of health. A moment on the lips is a lifetime on the hips.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.  Flobots - Handlebars

"Look at me, look at me, with my hands in the air like its good to be alive!"

My favorite line, "A moment on the lips is a lifetime on the hips."

I think you're amazing, by the way. If you didn't already know that. :)
