I did this year in review in 2008 and 2009, so I figured I should keep with tradition. Here is 2010: A Year in Review.
1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before? Had two children hospitalized for illnesses. Had knee surgery. Gave birth to my third child. Started a business.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I can't even remember my 2010 resolutions. I had to find my journal to refresh my memory. I wrote 10 resolutions in 2010, and can happily report that I kept 3 out of 10 resolutions. This year, for 2011, I only have to write one goal. I still haven't decided what it will be. It should be lofty, like lose 50 pounds! We'll see.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Can I count myself? That's about as close as it gets. :) I had some good friends give birth, also.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No, thank goodness.
5. What countries did you visit? None.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010? Peace of mind.
7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? The birth date of my son, Grayson. The death date (anniversary) of my father.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Accepting a very time-demanding church calling one week before delivering Grayson.
9. What was your biggest failure? Injuring my knee during the last volleyball game of the season, and losing the game, no less.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Yes, and it lasted nine.long.difficult.months!!!!!!!!!!
11. What was the best thing you bought? A Cannondale Caad9-5 road bike. I've only ridden it once- because we purchased it when I was 8 months pregnant, and then I had a baby, and then knee surgery, and there is snow all over the road-but soon my bike will get a lot of travel time. Beginning with some indoor training, then on the roads in the spring. I hope to ride a Century(100 miles) race this year.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My mom's. She has been an amazing support to me in the last two months! Love her!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Not anyone I know specifically, but when I read about people that have hurt or killed other people because of poor choices, it appalls and depresses me.
14. Where did most of your money go? Mortgage, bills, tithing, groceries....LIFE.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? No longer being pregnant and having knee pain.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010? Provo, UT Girls
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Sadder; 2010 was a rough year for me.
b) thinner or fatter? Fatter; being pregnant will do that to you. Darn it!
c) richer or poorer? Richer; I earned more than 5K of my own money working from home. And that was in four months of designing blogs. I wonder what this year will bring? It'd be nice to think I could earn $20,000 working from home. I should make it a goal. :)
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Vacationing.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Consuming sugar.
20. How did you spend Christmas? We opened presents as a family at our home, then drove to Roosevelt for the day and spent some time with my mom, grandma, siblings and their families.
21. Did you fall in love in 2010? Yes; more in love with my husband, daughter and two sons.
22. What was your favorite TV program? Glee and Lie to Me.
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Hate is a strong word, but I might dislike someone more now than I did last year.
24. What was the best book you read? I didn't read much in 2010. I found it difficult to read while pregnant with Grayson. I'm not really sure why. In fact, the only book I remember reading (besides scripture and lesson manuals) is Mocking Jay by Suzanne Collins. After all the anticipation, I was very disappointed.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery? I like a handful of country songs. I never thought I would even listen to it, let alone like it.
26. What did you want and get? A road bike.
27. What did you want and not get? A smart phone and a wacom tablet (for digital drawing) but I'm still holding out for these two.
28. What was your favorite film of this year? Toy Story 3 (and I liked Salt, too).
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Lamenting that none of my friends know when my birthday is, so no one remembered my birthday besides family members; I turned 31.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? No physical pain.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010? Casual.
32. What kept you sane? Knowing that I signed up for all of the trials I went through, and that I could receive comfort from my Savior and Heavenly Father if I would just take the time to ask.
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Hmm...celebrities don't make much of an impact on me...unless they paid off my mortgage or something...then I might take notice.
34. What political issue stirred you the most? Politics-schmolitics.
35. Who did you miss? My father.
36. Who was the best new person you met? Grayson.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. When you feel like your "plate" is full and it is tipping and everything is crashing to the floor and there is a big mess, don't get frustrated about it. Look at the extra room on your plate as a spot for dessert and enjoy life and live in the moment!
38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. "Ain't nobody ever loved nobody, the way that I love you" from Josh Turner's song, Your Man.

I love the plate analogy. It's perfect.
