I found a link to a blog tonight called This Is Me Challenge - LDS Version and since I am always trying to find something to blog about (to keep my readers happy..ha! No, to help add to my journal), I thought I would follow along with this challenge.
The first challenge is to share my testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The challenge is to include not only my testimony, but how I obtained it, and what events lead to the strengthening of my testimony.
I actually made it a goal to start off the new year by bearing my testimony in church on the first Fast Sunday of the year. I achieved that goal. Part of me secretly enjoys the thought that my testimony is not only being recorded by the church clerk, but is also being recorded in heaven. I can always use the upliftment that comes after sharing what I believe.
I do have a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am thankful for my membership in His church. I am grateful to my loving Heavenly Father for all of the blessings he bestows upon me, and I recognize His hand in all that I have. I am thankful for my brother, my Savior, Jesus Christ, and for His atoning sacrifice for me. I know that He lives. It brings me great joy to know that we can be forgiven of our sins and made whole through the atonement.
I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon, and for the prophet Joseph Smith and his role in bringing forth the Book of Mormon in these latter days. I love the courage the Joseph Smith had, for doing what he did and for standing for truth and righteousness. It is difficult to do what is right when faced with persecution, but he never stopped even when faced with death. He is a noble example.
I love the Holy Ghost and strive for his constant companionship. It is easy to get bogged down with life, and the Holy Ghost helps to clarify and simplify things.
I love that I have the knowledge of a modern-day prophet, and that President Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's mouthpiece on earth today. I love listening to that man speak and also to those that serve with him in the First Presidency. Conference talks are such a good reference point whenever I am struggling. I enjoy studying and learning the words shared by the prophet, his counselors, and the many people that serve in auxiliary positions.
I am so thankful for the LDS temples that dot the earth. Such beautiful sanctuaries. I love the sacred ordinances that take place within the walls of the temples, especially the ordinances that I have covenanted to keep to help make my family an eternal family. The knowledge that families can be together forever, and that life extends beyond this mortal existence is beautiful. It brings me great happiness and joy. Knowing I will see my father again someday, in flesh and bones, makes me happy. I look forward to it. I love my little family, and being with them forever is my goal!
My family means so much to me. My husband and children are my world. I am so incredibly blessed to have them as a part of my life. I thank God every day that he sent them to my life.
I love the fact that we have been given guidance on how to treat our bodies with the Word of Wisdom. Good health is a result from following the Word of Wisdom (no coffee, tobacco, caffeine, alcohol, drugs, etc..). It is easy to follow if your mind is already made up before you have a temptation.
I know that God lives and that he loves us. I am so grateful for this knowledge and for His love for me. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
